The magnetic base works on suitable steel surfaces only. Many modern 4WD canopies are made from aluminium, which is non-magnetic.
For aluminium canopies, permanent installations or demanding off-road conditions, use the heavy-duty cast-aluminium mounting tabs with screws.
When should I use the magnetic mount or screw mounting?
Use the magnetic mount when you want quick installation, easy repositioning or temporary lighting on a suitable steel surface.
Use the heavy-duty screw mounting tabs for permanent installations, aluminium surfaces, high-vibration environments or demanding off-road applications.
For corrugations and regular off-road use, screw mounting is the recommended option for maximum security.
